The 2019 mockbuster Monster Island by The Asylum, which was ironically released around the same time as Godzilla: King of the Monsters, is about an island called Monster Island where a monster may be discovered, who is kind of the island, the Monster Island, if you will.


Because this movie is about an asylum, it has about the same budget as a (page) big kid's dinner. The film uses that money carefully to focus on human characters and keep its big stars on one set. This allows them to shoot all of their sequences during lunch breaks. We must not forget that this movie is about kaiju and that is how they do, so perhaps The Asylum won’t be as bad.
